every single day. the insanity, the chaos – it is all exhausting.
there is nothing beautiful about the goings-on in this america-the-beautiful as it is led by cruelty and bigotry beyond belief. we are inside their sickness, a violent extremism that is gutting the heart of this democracy.
it makes me lean on a card i have in my studio. i received it from a dear friend in 2012, shortly after my sweet poppo died. i’ve quoted it before, but it certainly bears repeating. it reads:
“life is slippery. here, take my hand.” (h. jackson browne, jr. )
now, it seems, is a good time to take one another’s hand.

Maybe this isn’t the right venue to say the following… Yesterday we had a great visit from an elderly couple we love so much. They moved to Arizona 7 years ago and drove all the way back to South Dakota to see the friends they had left behind – including Brenda and me. They are fast approaching the age of 90. When they left, I got that sick feeling the way I did when Brenda’s superb parents were about to die; that we would not see them again. Old age leaves an indelible mark on others. As Brenda and I approach our 70’s, I hope we are leaving a positive and heart-felt mark on others too! Just a thought.

You two are ABSOLUTELY leaving a positive and heart-felt mark on others – including on us. Hugs to you both. xoxo
